Birthday..s..

What are the chances that we have three friends among us who celebrate their birthdays on the same day? Well, I guess very likely indeed.

It's always a feast when we dine out together as there is a good number of us. This translates to the increased number of dishes that we could order, as well as try out =)

However since there are so many of us, it is quite a squeeze to fit in everyone around the table. So poking each other with chopsticks or elbow is not an uncommon occurence.

Then there are times when we are so bored that we do goofy stuff to kill time..for example pretending to be a ham-sap-lou (which I think he has the qualifications..kaka^^) or taking picture of the other person taking a picture of you...

Five-star treatment

Today we attended the Hong Kong Tourism Board's press conference held at the prestigious Ritz-Carlton hotel at Marina Del-Rey, which is located right next to the beautiful ocean.

It was indeed a real deal as we were the first batch in the world to witness the new release of the Discover Hong Kong 2006 tourism campaign video promotion release. The Board did in fact invested a lot of effort and money into the event as the place was packed with hordes of VIPs and the press.

The Board also revealed their latest campaign which is a beautiful compass which opens up into a breath-taking photo stand. All the attendees were presented with a gift bag including this compass, which means I got to bag one as well!

As we sipped some champagne, waiters and waitresses floated around the patio and hallway serving us stuffed portebello, beef/chicken skewers, shrimp rolls, wantons, an assortment of cheeses and so on. Ahh...I like it!

Reporting on...Food!

It's been a messy situation at work lately. There have been some sticky issues regarding financials between the 4 investors and it's been slowly killing the company...

Anyhow I'm just doing my job and every day is still another day.

Today we collaborated with a newspaper company and did a report introducing a new Vietnamese restaurant in town. Now this is what I'm talking about--working while indulging =)

Our entourage of four were treated as kings and queens of the day, whereby the manager and waiters attended to our every need, without us even uttering a word of request. I guess that's good hospitality directed at the media!

So there I was looking for various intriguing angles to shoot the restaurant decor and the array of scrumptious-looking food spread out for us. It was quite a challenge as it's been quite awhile since I've handled a camera. However the skills came surging back from memory after warming up to the camera.

We were stuffed crazy as the hostess brought out truckloads of food for us to sample. The main attraction was of course their beef noodle soup. It was absolutely divine. They claimed to use only beef bones for the 8 hours worth of soup boiling without the addition of MSG. Then there were also desserts and their famous French-influenced slow-roasted coffee.

Even after complete satiation, the hostess brought us each a takeaway serving of their beef noodle soup as well as their special Thai tea. (that'll be my lunch for tomorrow!) Ahhh...such warm graciousness..I'm already dreaming about our next reporting-indulging trip...drool~

(*sorry for the lack of pictures, I didn't bring my own camera..will try to update hopefully with my colleague's)
