Cute!

Yes..It's pink. It's my favorite color, among others but it sits on top of my list so lay off it already.

Yesterday after returning to the office fresh from a press conference, a huge box was perched happily on the desk waiting for me. I was undoubtedly psyched! Who doesn't love to receive packages right? What's more, it's a birthday present from one of my superb friends! Thanks Ashley~You know me too well =)

After gently opening the package (despite my feeble attempts to hide my excitement), I uncovered this cute handbag safely protected inside several layers of styrofoam. At this point, my colleague walked into my office and saw me looking lovingly at my new toy. He exclaimed that I already possess a similar pink purse. I looked crossly at him and pointed out that a girl can never have too many cute pink purses...He shrugged and walked away. Clueless Men...haha ^___^

All in One Day

It's awesome to have friends who are experts in miscellaneous fields, such as dentistry, computer, sports, fashion and so on. I have the priviledge of knowing a friend who loves bread as much as I do and what's more, she loves to bake as well.

Snow skin mooncake is my absolute favorite type. Rounding it out the perfect combination with green tea flavored skin and red bean filling, I'm on the way straight to the moon myself. Dear Oppss was kind enough to share her little dreamy creations with me knowing I'm a fellow diehard fan of snow skin mooncake. Thank you so much~*Muaks Needless to rave, the precious treasure tasted as heavenly as it looked!

At 11:30pm, a bunch of us were gathered outside my friend's apartment. Everyone was yawning with exhaustion, but we wanted to surprise a friend who was celebrating his birthday today. We waited till the very last moment so that he'd be disappointed by then and thus surprise him to achieve our goal of secrecy.

Alas, despite our immense effort (okay, not really..) to keep hush about the surprise, he figured out what we were up to when he noticed one of his roommate left the apartment near midnight (he was in the living room at that time). During his search for his roommate, he spied all of us hiding next to the elevator. Oh well..it is kind of hard when you live with 4 other roommates. Anyways Happy Birthday ya~

Haven't had these for a long time...

What are these? Yumm...My lunch today was a completely home-made delicious bak-zhang, literally meaning meat dumpling. It takes an ample amount of time to prepare, cook and wrap these little gastronomic deliveries. That's not all either, after all that, they have to be boiled for another 5 hours to declare consummation.

This past weekend, I went to hang out at my friend's place. Upon arrival a wave of redolence pleasantly greeted my sensitive nostrils. My friends were just in the initial stage of attempting to wrap the ready ingredients.

The whole concoction is made of a plethora of ingredients, including glutinuous rice, mushroom, dried shrimp, pork belly, and black-eyed peas. All the ingredients have to be half-cooked before the important step of wrapping.

Being the busybody that I am, I grabbed 2 pieces of banana leaves and forged ahead with the seemingly easy task. But oh no no no...Easy doesn't even come close to describing the wrapping process.

My endeavors to make a beautifully-wrapped zhang proved to be inefficacious as the hour wore on. The leaves had a propensity to tear before I could even secure them with a string.

My friends and I were about ready to call it quits when uncle offered us some much needed tips on handling this insurmountable task. Nevertheless it took uncle several repeated slow-mo demonstrations to beat the idea into our thick skull. Then there were several more devastating trials and erroneous attempts before we finally grasp the secret to wrapping a decent-looking zhang.

Buoyed up by our eventual comprehension, it gave us impetus to wrap the remaining dumplings. Although they still didn't look all that perfect, it was a poignant delight to at least produce a resembling zhang. Reheating it in the microwave with a few pats of water enhanced the dumpling with a lacquer sheen!

Happy Mid-Autumn Festival~

It's been a couple of years since I last celebrated Mid-Autumn Festival. I once even forgot all about it, which is pretty sad...Anyways I had an awesome day this time around.

My friends and I gathered at uncle & auntie's house to celebrate. Auntie made her specialy bak-kut-teh. yum!! It's been awhile since I've had such good bak-kut-teh...drool..

After dinner, we sat around and chatted. The moon was so big and bright! It rised higher and higher as the night grew on. Eating a lovely piece of mooncake while watching the moon ascend..such a pleasurable affair with nature.

Filming Day

Went to work this morning. Well I would prefer not to think of it as work so that I'd relish in our little excursion to Disney Land. Our objective was to capture some footage of all things fun at Disney.

It was definitely fun being the actress in our company's commercial. I'm like the face of the company now. sigh...I should probably demand some face money for all the embarressing shots I were in.

We didn't really go inside the themepark. We just filmed outside at Downtown Disney. From the looks of it, DisneyLand looks almost identical to its counterpart, DisneyWorld over at Orlando, FL. I'm not particularly disappointed that we didn't get to enter the themepark as I weren't over the top with DisneyWorld anyways. I think Disney is more of an attraction suitable for kids or family. Adventurous rides and all that jazz sound more like my cup of tea...

Weekend Activities

My weekends have been pretty hectic since I moved to L.A a month back. First thing in the morning, I usually go jogging at Almansor Park while the guys play their early round of basketball. Then usually right after we would ingest our hungry tummies with some wholesome breakfast at Shen-Lai-Du.

Afternoons are usually 'free-activity' time. I usually do my round of laundry at my friend's place since we don't have a dryer at home. What a chore! Then we'd play mah-jong or video games while waiting for the fresh laundry.

Then comes dinner time. The whole bunch of us, which is around 17-20 people nowadays would dine at a restaurant together to catch up on each other's lives.

Lately though, we've been going for Karaoke 2 weeks in a row. It's pretty fun to relive my youthful college days. It's also an effective way to kill several dreary hours in the afternoon.

Then of course there are some weekends when I have to work...bleah...

Another Girl's Best Friend

Upon returning home after a hard day at work, my eyes glistened at the sight of a beautiful purple box perching prettily outside my door. I knew almost instantly whom they were from.

And of course my guess on right on the spot. Thanks Allie!

Inside the box was a bouquet of beautiful roses, in pink (my favorite color), red (another favorite color), and yellow. And boy were they redolent...Also in the package was a huge chunk of sinful Hershey's chocolate. yum...

I'm not that great at taking care of flowers truth be told. It seems like everytime I attempt to do so, they either wilt after a few days or just die an instant death..Okay maybe that's a little exaggerating, but the survival length is never over a week. So I was a little worried when I opened up the box.

Nevertheless looking at the lovely rose petals triggered a flicker in me to attend to every need that the roses might need. It's my vow to them. haha...Well well we'll see in a week won't we?
