Sweet Farewell

Another friend leaving town soon for Japan. D will be teaching English there for a year or two. In the meantime, figure out what he wants to do with his life.

Hmm..I'd love to do that if I could. I mean the pay is really good for a beginner--$36K a year, without tax! If you stay in a rural area, you'd probably end of saving most of that. Imagine after a two-year stint there, you'd be so much better off financially.

But of course I can't since I'm technically not a native speaker. Blah...There goes my opportunity of mastering the Japanese language and immersing in this intricately modern yet traditional culture.

D made us cupcakes with strawberry icing tonight. They were oh-so-sweet!
